Cabo Espichel

Amazing view, dinosaurs footprints and a Sanctuary

Probably the best thing to visit when you are in Sesimbra.

A very nice view over the ocean in a very calm and relaxing environment. Maybe one the best places in Portugal to see the sunset. The blue sea and the waves look magical in this place.

There is also  a cliff with evidence of dinosaur trails (Pedrea da Mua). According to local superstition the dinosaur footprints acted as a guide for the Virgin Mary as she ascended the cliffs.

Sometimes it gets very windy, so better to bring a jacket with you.

In the same area you can also visit the abandoned sanctuary and the small but beautifully decorated church dating from 1701.  There’s a lighthouse close by.
